A BRIEF HISTORY

This site states the following about the name Lachmann:
"First found in Franconia, where this family name became a prominent contributor to the development of the district from ancient times."

It has been said by my Grandfather (William Lockman) that his father changed the name from Lachmann to Lockman (a more english version), when he seperated from his first wife. Making it almost impossible for her to find him. After seven years, there marriage status was declared a divorce, though no papers were ever signed.
