Write Up Fred was born in the village of Valiva, the county of Czernowitz,
and the province of Bukovina in the Ukraine. He enjoyed to fish and hunt.
Instead of purchasing fishing tackle he used to make his own, which looked as
good as the ones in the store. Fred also liked to pick up and collect beer and
pop bottles. He was a blacksmith and carpenter by trade and built tombstones
for extra money. Fred was a timid, quiet, and friendly man who was unable
to read or write English.

Lazaar Bilokreli

Write Up Lazaar was not a farmer by profession. In the Ukraine,
Lazaar worked as a chauffeur for a high ranking official.
He had no brothers or sisters and was orphaned at birth.

Emigrated: 1900 Lazaar and Maria Bilokreli married in the Ukraine. They emigrated
to Canada in 1900 where they settled on a homestead three miles north
of Theodore, Saskatchewan. The Bilokrelis came from the village of Valiva,
the county of Czernowitz, and the province of Bukovina in the Ukraine.
When they arrived in Canada they had three children - Fred, Katie, and Nick.

Write Up Mary was a terrific little woman with a powerful voice. She
served as a midwife for many years and delivered almost all her
grandchildren and probably most of the neighbors’ children. She
was a fantastic cook and a loving grandmother who claimed all her
grandchildren as special. Mary was also a great organizer. She was
very religious and loved to sing.

Wasyl Kopan

Write Up Wasyl was an ambitious man who dreamt of owning large areas of land.
When he lived in Europe he served in the Austrian army. He had only
one sister, who he brought to Canada when he emigrated. They were
orphaned when Wasyl was only twelve years old.

Emigrated: 1895 Wasyl and Wasylka Kopan married in the Ukraine. They emigrated to Canada
in 1895 where they settled on a homestead about three miles east of Insinger,
Saskatchewan. The Kopans came to Canada from the village of Boyanchuk, the
county Czernowitz, and the province of Bukovina in the Ukraine. At the time of
their arrival they probably had three children - George, Matt, and Mary. While
making the journey to Canada, an infant son, John, died on board ship and was
buried at sea.

Write Up Wasylka or Wilma came from a large family.
She was a hard worker but was rather reserved in nature.
