CHURCH SHOPPING

Today Corey and I went to check out Grandview Baptist with my sister-in-law Susan. I guess you could say that I am looking for a Church family where they have programs for people of my age. At the Church that I attend right now, Benton St. Baptist, they don't really cater to people in our stage of life. When you look over the congergation you see a sea of white heads, or when you look to the College and Carrers they tend to be people who are still in college, living at home or are not married yet. When we used to attend that group when we were first finished College we didn't feel like we fit in, they would be talking about exams and about still living at home and the problems of living at home. Then the next age bracket that we should fit into the Young Adults that are around our age they all have young kids and, yet again we don't fit in with that catagory yet either. I don't really like how we attend Church, we go into the service, sit there and do the singing and listen to the preaching, then as soon as the service is done we walk (if not run) out the front of the Chruch so that we don't have to talk to anybody. So, today was the first that I tried to do something about it. One nice thing about Grandview was they have an early service that starts at 8:15 and ends at 9:15 so we were home before 10:00. We didn't really have a chance to talk to people as we were helping Susan with Anna and Ethan. Next week I have to teach the Grades 1 and 2 Sunday School so, it won't be for two weeks that we might try another Church or go back to Grandview. So tune in in a couple of weeks for the next edition of "Church Shopping."

ANNOYING PHONE CALLS

Everybody gets them, the phone call during dinner or while you are watching a good show on t.v. Last night as Corey and I were watching "Lost" we got a phone call. When I saw the name on the caller I.D., I thought it was going to be just a simple wrong number. Not this time... The lady on the other end asked me a very strange question, "Do you want to move?" What kind of a question is that, "Do you want to move?". She said that someone wanted to live on our street, and they were interested in buying our house! We told her that we were not interested in moving for about 5 years. After we had hung up with her I remembered that a family across the street is trying to sell their house. I don't know how she got our number; the phone book maybe? I guess if that is what she was doing she just might come across the family that is selling their house.

FARWELL

Today my Brother's Father-In-Law, Dave Roth, passed away after his struggle with cancer. He was a man that was loved by many. He was a quiet man, but always deep in thought. He was a missionary that put in phone systems for hospitals and schools. He will be missed.
